BBQ sides are often a side thought and when you are cooking a large piece of Brisket, that can be forgiven. Having a few quick sides that you can quickly bring together is essential whilst the meat is resting. In a few minutes you’ll have some great beans that taste better than something that has been dropped out of a tin and thrown in the microwave.

Serves: 6
Time: 15 Minutes
Difficulty: Straight Forward
One 400g can of Borlotti Beans
30g of Brown Sugar
75ml of Cider Vinegar
2 tablespoons of Tomato Purée
1 tablespoon of Black Treacle
1/2 teaspoon of Allspice
1 teaspoon of Smoked Paprika
1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Granules
1/2 teaspoon of Ground White Pepper
Salt
1. Add the tomato purée to a pot and cook for two minutes on a medium heat until slightly darker in colour.
2. Add the vinegar followed by the sugar, spices and black treacle. Whisk and bring to a simmer.
4. Reduce to thicken if needed. The mixture should cling to the back of a spoon.
5. Drain and add the beans to the sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
6. Salt to taste and serve.
